Mrs. Reding speech at the at the BEUC Annual General Assembly – 13/11/2008

On November 13th, 2008, Viviane Reding, Member of the European Commission (EC) responsible for Information Society and Media, gave the speech entitled ‘Empowering users: the key to the development of the Information Society’ at the Bureau Européen des Unions de Consommateurs’s (BEUC – The European Consumers’ Organisation) Annual General Assembly.

Launch of the EURANET on-line platform – 12/11/2008

On November 12th, 2008, the European Radio Network (EURANET) launched its new multilingual, interactive “community on web” Internet platform. Margot Wallström, Commission Vice-President and Commissioner for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy, welcomed the support from the Commission to the consortium for the next five years.

EC presents re-worked version of the Telecom Package – 07/11/2008

On November 7th, 2008, the European Commission (EC) presented new legislative texts to pave the way for compromise between the European Parliament (EP) and Council of Europe (the Council) on the European Union’s (EU) regulatory framework for electronic communications networks and services (Telecom package).

State aid: Commission consults on revised broadcasting communication – 04/11/2008

On November 4th, 2008 the European Commission published a draft Communication on the rules it is intending to apply to state funding of public service broadcasting. Member states and stakeholders are now able to submit their views and opinions by January 15th, 2009 on the proposed text.
