Call for tender: production and broadcasting of radio programmes on Europan Union affairs Print E-mail

The European Union (EU) launched a call for tender on production and broadcasting, by a radio network, of informative radio programmes on EU affairs, to be relayed on an Internet portal.

Deadline: September 14th, 2007.

Objective:

Develop an integrated network of radio operators in the European Union (EU).
This network shall be able to:
- Produce and broadcast simultaneously in several EU languages, recognisable programs devoted to EU affairs in accordance with a common editorial policy
- Give information in real time, from day to day, on EU current affairs
- Address all aspects of the EU: political debates, everyday Europe,
- Make the views of European citizens known outside their countries,
- Show how a particular issue is addressed in the different EU Member States

Programmes:

- Supplied programmes should be produced and broadcast by a network of at least 5 different radio stations in at least 5 official languages of the EU, in an equivalent rate;
- The daily production/broadcasting volume should be a minimum of 10 minutes
- The radio stations are free to choose the programme format, as long as this contains, as a minimum, news items on EU affairs;
- Supplied programs should be broadcast at peak listening times and rebroadcast once or several times during the day in the largest possible number of EU countries;
- The network should offer a common Internet portal;
- The network must consist of the largest possible number of radio stations, including international, national, regional and local stations, even though not all radio stations are obliged to produce programmes;
- The network's organisational structure should be clear and accepted by all members;
- Provisions allowing for the number of radio stations belonging to the network (and the number of production/broadcasting languages) to be increased - provided that they accept the network's common operating regulations - should be put in place [I don’t understand what this means. I just copied and pasted from the original document];
- The network should have total real audience figures of at least 5.000.000;
- Members of the network must demonstrate experience.

Target companies: groupings of service providers/suppliers.

Duration of the contract: the contract will enter into force for an initial 1-year period and may then be renewed via additional clauses for 4 further 1-year periods, to give a maximum term of 5 years.

Estimated value: EUR 5.500.000 per year (VAT excluded).
