PRESS RELEASE

AER GENERAL ASSEMBLY ELECTS ITS NEW SECRETARY GENERAL

At its 13th General Assembly on February 18th 2004 in Brussels, members of the Association of European Radios (AER) elected as their new Secretary General, Mr. Frederik STUCKI who represents the Swiss Association of Private Radios (VSP) in the association.

After his nomination was confirmed, Mr. STUCKI commented: “As a Swiss and therefore not an EU-Member, I am honoured by this nomination. It shows that throughout Europe, the concerns of private and commercial radios are similar and that together through AER we can make the voice of our industry heard in Brussels.”

AER President Sergio NATUCCI said: “Frederik STUCKI has the competences and motivation to help develop and strengthen AER. The European Union is on the brink of major changes: in May, ten countries will join the EU, in June a new European Parliament will be elected and in November, a new Commission will enter into force. The industry itself is faced with major challenges including digitisation. A new phase is starting and we must be ready to apprehend these changes with innovative ideas, in order to secure the future and further development of the private and commercial radio sector in Europe.”
