RadioCentre (United Kingdom)
The RadioCentre formed in July 2006 from the merger of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and the Commercial Radio Companies Association (CRCA). Its members consist of the overwhelming majority of UK Commercial Radio stations who fund the organisation.
The role of the RadioCentre is to maintain and build a strong and successful Commercial Radio industry - both in terms of listening hours and revenues. As such, the RadioCentre operates in a number of areas including working with advertisers and their agencies, representing commercial radio companies to Government, Ofcom, copyright societies and other organisations concerned with radio, and working with stations themselves. The RadioCentre also provides a forum for industry discussion, is a source of advice to members on all aspects of radio and jointly owns Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd (RAJAR) with the BBC.
The RadioCentre has several sub-divisions including:
- The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB)
The RAB is the customer facing brand within the RadioCentre. The RAB's main focus is growing advertising revenue through driving reconsideration of radio amongst national advertisers and their agencies.
- Radio Advertising Clearance Centre (RACC)
Part of the RadioCentre, the RACC is Commercial Radio's advertising clearance body. It is funded by Commercial Radio stations who pay copy clearance fees.
- hit40uk Ltd
hit40uk, based in the RadioCentre, manages cross industry network programming and actively develops new opportunities for the industry.
- Joint Industry Commercial Radio IT Ltd (JICRIT)
Part of the RadioCentre, JICRIT runs the industry's J-ET trading system and aims to deliver post campaign accountability for radio.
The RadioCentre's affairs are managed by a board of ten directors, composed of the RadioCentre Chairman, eight other non-executive directors and one executive director, the Chief Executive of the RadioCentre.
The RadioCentre has been an influential force in British broadcasting throughout its existence and was one of the founding members of the Association of European Radios (AER).
