The Association of Finnish Broadcasters was founded in 1983. The association changed its name to RadioMedia in 2009.

Commercial radio was introduced in Finland in 1985 when the first local radio stations started. In February 2021, RadioMedia host a total of 90 radio stations: local, semi-national and national radio stations. The current operating licenses are valid until the end of the year 2029. Commercial radio stations in Finland reach weekly about 3,5 million listeners. The public broadcasters’ reach is about 2.9 million weekly. Radio advertising market share of display advertising in Finland was 5 percent in 2020.

Radio Media joined AER on July 1st 2001.
