Shaping the future of EU media policy

AER is co-organising an all-day media policy event, together with the Association of Commercial Televisions in Europe (ACT) , the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and News Media Europe (NME).

The event, endorsed by the European Commission, will take place on December 3rd in Brussels at BIP – Rue Royale 2-4, 1000 Brussels, from 9.00 – 16.30, and focus on 3 main themes:

  • Quality journalism in the digital age, from trusted news and online disinformation to media freedom, and the recently adopted EU whistleblower Directive.
  • Innovation, media partnerships and the development of a broader media policy strategy for the media to flourish given the current challenges.
  • Fair competition in digital markets as the media industry continues its journey towards a more digital future. The role and responsibilities of internet gatekeepers, concentration of market power in data and advertising, fair terms and conditions to conduct business, and access to data.

The event will be opened by Commissioner Věra Jourová and will feature high-level speakers, including AER Vice-President Corinna Drumm.
